Hacking the iPhone... (08/03/08)

So im shopping for a new phone, and im looking to buy sim-free cos my comtract's only half way through but im bored with my k800i. (im on vodafone)

Looking around I notice the Armani (samsung) phone and am shocked to see that they want £390 for it, 8-|

i look at a few more including the touch screen LG thing, a very shiney nokia 8800.

Undecided i wonder into the O2 shop and get touchy-feely with an iphone - nice - thinking "I want one, but cant be bothered with the Mad O2 contract" - Then i notice that the price is CORRECTLY marked as £265 - Handset price.....

An eyebrow raises!

So I ask the generic staff, and im told that thats it - you take it away - for £265 - unregistered, and plug it into iTunes, then set up your contract over the net.

I struggled with the thought for 10 mins, and decided, after seeing that the iPod Touch 16GB was only £60 less than the iPhone 8GB, i thought meh.. sod it lets have a go, i can always jam it on eBay if it cant be hacked.


So within 20 mins of getting home, a quick Google, and a bit of excellent software called ZiPhone, Ive got a nice shiney iPhone running happily on Vodafone. :-)
